Gelli Park Embankment Stabilisation

Gelli Park embankment stabilisation project has been successfully delivered on programme.

Over a 10-week programme, the works included:

✔️ Installation of Environmental mitigation measures
✔️ Temporary Bund Installation
✔️ Excavation of the wall within the bunded area
✔️ Installation of contractor-designed excavation support system
✔️ Placement of concrete foundation for new retaining wall
✔️ Construction of blockwork retaining wall, which was then faced with masonry to tie into the existing structure by specialist stone masons

In addition to the embankment stabilisation, our team undertook re-pointing works to the wall throughout, placed and fixed over 2,000 Soluform bags to the scoured areas highlighted for remedial works within the inspection report.

The project did not come without its challenges; the river is susceptible to high, fast flows, and as always, environmental monitoring was required for the project’s duration.
