Llyn Teifi Reservoir Spillway Rehabilitation

The Teifi dam spillway is under the Reservoirs Act 1975, this Act requires reservoirs to be under supervision at all times and periodically inspected by specialist qualified civil engineers. As a result of one of these inspections concerns were highlighted about the stability and deterioration of the concrete due to freeze/thaw action over many years. Therefore the need for refurbishment work was identified.

Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering Ltd were commissioned by Balfour Beatty Rail to provide a working platform for the preparatory works and repairs to be carried out on the structure during all states of the tide. St Julian’s Viaduct lies within the navigable River Usk, which has a tidal range in excess of 12 metres during Spring Tides.

As part of Network Rail’s Kent Bridges Refurbishment Scheme, Kaymac Marine was commissioned by our client, Balfour Beatty Rail, to carry out refurbishment works on the River Medway Bridge, which carries the VIR line over the Medway between Strood and Rochester and Kent.

Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering Ltd were commissioned by Cardiff Harbour Authority to supply and install steel tubular piles to be used as the foundations for a galvanized steel pontoon and access walkway. The works were carried out at Cardiff International White Water Centre and formed part of the Cardiff International Sports Village.
