Stabilisation to structure and scour repairs.
Following detailed conditional survey, severe erosion and damage to the weir was identified. To prevent further deterioration and possible failure, mass concrete repairs were required to stabilise the toe of the weir.
A floating pontoon platform system was used within the river to provide access to the weir for personnel and plant. To complete the repairs along the toe of the weir steel baffle angle bars were to be removed, then a temporary sand bag bund was installed to divert the water flow creating a dry working area for the removal of mobile bed material from within the scoured areas and installation of temporary formwork. This method was repeated along the toe of the weir until 240m³ of mass underwater concrete was placed and all the scour holes were filled.
