To carry out low pressure grouting and re-pointing works to the spillway masonry walls and invert.
Following reports of water leakage through the right hand spillway wall at Lower Lleidi Reservoir, Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering were commissioned by Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water to carry out low pressure grouting and re-pointing works to the to the spillway masonry walls and invert.
The client dropped the level of the water in the reservoir to allow the slipway to de-water, we could then access into the spillway via 3 sets of scaffolding steps over the wall. These were erected before Kaymac mobilise to site and situated on the first, third and fifth step for the duration of the works.
The works consisted of De-vegetation and pressure wash to the lower 5 masonry steps including the walls 1m above invert level on both sides, and rake out of loose mortar and re-point invert and walls where required. Kaymac operatives then removed loose masonry setts, re-beded and undertook low pressure grouting of the floor and walls of the spillway channel throughout the lower 5 steps.
The project was completed within time and budget.
