Kaymac are presently working for Black and Veatch on behalf of client, Welsh Water at Prioress Mill, Usk, in Gwent.

Kaymac's role is in providing structures to provide protection from harm to fish species in river intakes using improved screening methods while also removing existing screens and installing trash screens.

Also, Kaymac will be demolishing sections of the existing wing walls and constructing new splayed walls to support new 'Hydrolox' screens.

Another aspect of this scheme that will be carried out by Kaymac is the reinstatement of the existing river bank, providing reinforcement to both upstream and downstream areas by means of riprap and gabion baskets, providing a tapered installation between the natural bank and the new structure in order to minimise water turbulence.

During this project, Kaymac are also providing flood/flow protection including dewatering of critical areas to provide a clear working area, dewatering solutions are to be designed and installed by Kaymac.

Kaymac are constantly looking to new and innovative methods to provide engineering solutions. In this instance we have been working closely with AquaDam of Swindon to provide an inflatable temporary dam, which is proving to be extremely effective and versatile solution.
