In early April 14 Lifeboat Crew from The Mumbles visited in Antibes to mark the anniversary of the twinning of the stations. Kaymac Marine and Civil Engineering Ltd. sponsored the Mumbles station atire for their visit.
Kaymac are proud to support the RNLI with our own Quanity Surveyor Andrew Edwards a member of the Mumbles RNLI team. Andrew and the team recently took a trip to France and has kindly provided this update on how the trip went and how the twinning of stations came about:
10 years ago, Mumbles RNLI Lifeboat Crew were invited to Antibes, located on the Cote d’Azur in the South of France, to twin the lifeboat stations. Following a successful trip in 2008, the Antibes Lifeboat Crew returned to Mumbles in 2009. It was decided that The Mumbles Lifeboat Crew would return to Antibes to celebrate the 10 year anniversary.
In early April 14 Lifeboat Crew from The Mumbles visited in Antibes to mark this anniversary. Kaymac Marine and Civil Engineering Ltd. kindly sponsored the dress shirts which were worn by the crew on a visit to Monaco where they were hosted in Monaco Rowing Club.
Monaco Rowing Club shares the same club initials (M.A.R.C) and was coincidentally founded in the same year as Mumbles Rowing Club, of which a number of the crew are members. The crew then met up with the Antibes Crew, where we were shown around their boat and experienced some traditional French hospitality.
Sadly the event was cut short due to the Antibes Lifeboat and its crew being called away on service. Nevertherless Well done to all involved!
